Ebonised and Brass Inlaid Library
The architrave with arched tops and pierced roundels fitted with coloured lights. Above shelves made for specific volumes and objects of art, with brass swing arm library lights. The lower cupboards with brass panelled doors, fitted for sound and data. The library was influenced by Sir John Soane with a matching fire surround.
The room painted lava red as a homage to Sir William Hamilton, our ambassador to the court of Sicily (and husband of the infamous Emma) and keen vulcanologist, whose collection of antiquities formed the basis of the British Museum.
